S2. E14. "Self-Destructive Behavior is NOT a Flex!"
What is self-destructive behavior? That's what we're talking about today.
I only sleep 4 hours a night because I need to work.
I've had one glass of water today and an entire pot of coffee, I'm surviving on caffeine.
I've taken 1000 steps today; I've been so glued to my desk.
I haven't eaten since breakfast; I've been so busy.
I haven't read a book for fun for years; I don't have any time for myself.
I haven't slept all week; my newborn is teething.
None of these statements are positive. They all have a negative connotation that is describing a self-destructive behavior. Now I totally understand that sometimes these things do happen, even to the most well-intentioned person. But when we allow our days to be overcome by our circumstances and are unable to break that cycle, we are allowing the self-destructive behavior to create a hero mentality in our mind. If we just sacrifice this, it'll make the outcome that much sweeter.
This type of thought process is the exact opposite of someone who has a desire to live a healthier life. Someone with a desire to life a healthier lifestyle would look at these obstacles, begin to identify where the breakdown is happening and start creating small changes with cues to break free from these behaviors.
We are all a work in progress!! If you are listening to this and you feel like we are describing you, reach out!! We're here to help and would love to offer some insight on how to begin to break these self-destructive thoughts/loops!
